Dr Suat Chin Ng

Dr. Suat Chin Ng is a specialist colorectal surgeon treating patients in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Dr Ng has strong interests in both clinical and academic aspects of colorectal surgery and is devoted in her pursuit of achieving excellence in both areas.

Dr Ng obtained her medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 2007. Her passion for colorectal surgery has continued since, culminating in a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery. She further completed her Master’s degree in Surgery (undertaken at University of Melbourne), which had focused on Colorectal Cancer Surgery in Australia, supported by the Rotary Bowel Scan Scholarship.

In 2019, Dr Ng completed a Pelvic floor and Colorectal Research fellowship at Eastern Health, followed by a Fellowship at the renowned Oncology / Exenterative centre at Christchurch Hospital, and a further year of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Oncology Fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. She is a current member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).

Suat Chin’s special interests include: Colorectal Oncology (both laparoscopic and open surgeries), Pelvic Floor Pathology & Proctology, Benign Colorectal Disease (IBD & Diverticular disease), General Surgery (day procedures, gallbladder & hernia surgeries), Emergency Colorectal and General Surgery

Over the last decade, Suat Chin has received additional training in minimally invasive colorectal surgery, advanced endoscopy (including EMR), pelvic floor surgeries (including sacral nerve stimulation) and complex perianal procedures. She is one of the pioneer surgeons who took the lead in performing neoLaser surgery for fistula closures in a public setting in Victoria. She has a special interest in surgical education, global health (with experience in Nepal) and is currently involved in multi-centred surgical research.

Suat Chin is fluent in multiple languages. She believes in holistic and multidisciplinary care and always works closely with her urology, oncology, and gastroenterology colleagues for the benefit of her patients. Suat Chin prides herself on making her patients feel comfortable and empowers women to seek treatment of pelvic floor disorders.
